Anna Dabrowka’s Jump Start

CJSLogo_500

A couple of years ago Anna Dabrowska and I taught a self organized workshops together in Germany and we connected there instantly. I think it was Anna’s first workshop outside of Poland and now this super talented and wonderful chica is traveling the world 🙂

2011 finn2

My name is Anna Dąbrowska – Pękocka, also known as Finnabair from Warsaw, Poland.

I’m a woman of many interests: I’m a mixed media artist, scrapbooker and art journaler who loves new challenges, experiments and developing new techniques and skills.

I’ve been creating since 2007, started scrapbooking in 2008-2009 and mixed-media in 2009 when I got totally addicted. Through these years I’ve participated in group projects such as challenge and inspirational blogs (also as a founder), artist swaps, inspirational and charity events.

My projects are mostly media-based: I create paper and canvas layouts, collages and altered art, tags, journal pages – and many more. I love paint, texture and believe in power of recycling and upcycling. I just adore flea market supplies but also freestyle, careless creations:)

Some of my collages were shown on 3 group exhibitions in local galleries and my projects were displayed on the show organised by Craft & Hobby Association in the USA.

I teach classes in scrapbooking and mixed-media all over the world and create as a freelance designer for scrapbooking magazines. I support as a DT member such named manufacturers as Prima Marketing and Sizzix. Since October 2011 I’m a product designer and DT coordinator in 7 Dots Studio, Polish brand of papers and craft supplies. Since January 2013 I’m also starting my career as a product designer for Prima Marketing. I’m truly happy and excited to be here again, among the team of gifted, creative artists from all over the world!

Thank you again Nat, for launching this project – and inviting me in:) You are simply the best!

    Liefs, Melanie

  213. very interesting! Such a creative way to express yourself. Thanks for sharing this technique.

  214. It’s amazing how everything old is new again in the right hands!!! I learned about coloring my photos in college but haven’t given it another thought since. It looks AWESOME!!! I also love how you mount individual pages into a book- I wanted to sew through my pages but was holding back because it would show on the next page- DOH!!! Thanks for this fantastic video!!! I do have a question- I’m now printing at home since many commercial printers here in the US are no longer using actual photo paper- what paper did you use? does it have an emulsion coating? I won’t be able to drip a wet medium over the paper I currently use because it simply erases the image- emulsion would resist water a bit more like I see in your video. Thanks for any feedback you can provide!

    • Answering for the question about my JumpStart Video:
the photos I use for all my projects are photo lab, which means – printed on the real photo paper with the professional photo printing machine (I give them to printing in the photo lab or one of the media or music/photo/book stores here). I print them in matt, which makes altering fasr easier. I have no information what is the situation in your counties, but I’ve heard in some places there are printing machines in the drugstores or supermarkets – I’m sure a small research will give you an answer. Printing at home won’t work – even on good quality photo paper with photo ink – the effect with these photos are always unpredictable… great for experiments, but effects vary depends on the printer, ink and paper 🙂

  215. Heather P. says:

I never even thought to alter photos like that. Thanks for sharing your technique!!
